Weekly Positive Report 13 – Announcements

Hmm…You may have noticed it isn’t Sunday. I won’t make excuses…I was just really enjoying relaxing this weekend and couldn’t be bothered to open my laptop for long stretches – except to deal with taxes.

That said, I wasn’t wholly unproductive. I did a great deal of mental work about the site, so I have a few global announcements about the site, in addition to today’s announcement that’s especially for aspiring writers.

So, let’s stop dancing around the point and get there, shall we? Without further ado…

Announcement for aspiring writers

Here ye, here ye...or is that hear ye, hear ye?

As some of you may already know – but most of you probably don’t – I’m an editor for a literary ezine called Literary Lunes. (Don’t feel left out if you didn’t know. Hubby didn’t find out until last night and we just released our second edition last week.) The purpose of this ezine is to provide free resources and advice to writers. While much of the content is geared towards fiction and poetry, there are some gems of wisdom you can apply to any genre of writing.

Why am I telling you about this? Clearly, there are some opportunities to submit your writing to the ezine, but recruiting talent isn’t my focus today.

Here’s the thing…By and large, writing – of any sort – is a solitary task that often involves more rejection and levels of failure than it does success. To navigate the turbulent waters of publishing, you need a thick skin and a healthy dose of determination. You also need a positive outlook.

That’s where The Positive Piper comes into play!

While I think it’s very possible to apply any of our weekly thoughts or actions to your writing aspirations, I’m not writing specifically for my fellow writers here; I’m writing for everyone. What I’ve come to realize over the last few weeks is that I could go deeper – much deeper – on many of my topics to tweak them towards writers. So…that’s what we’re going to do.

The founder of Literary Lunes has been gracious enough to give me space on the site for a weekly column geared towards keeping writers positive as they strive for their loftiest and, for some, most personal goals. Some of the writing posts will go hand in hand with what we’re covering right here on The Positive Piper, while others may reach back into our archives to shed new light on previous topics. And, of course, I’m bound to veer off into territory we haven’t covered here at all.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a specific start date or day of the week just yet, but I can say The Positive Piper will begin her regular visits to Literary Lunes during the month of April to spread sunshine and cheer. If you want to know the minute the new column goes live, make sure you’re a member of the Facebook community because it’s THE first place I’ll drop a link.

Ooh…and if you have any specific positivity challenges with regards to your writing, feel free to post ‘em on the Facebook wall, or in the comments section below, so that I can shape the content around what’s going to help you the most.

Announcement for everyone

Now for the even better stuff…The Piper has some interesting changes up her sleeves for this site in the coming months. (Yes, I really am talking about myself in 3rd person.) First and foremost, this is the last official Weekly Positive Report. Since 13 is my favorite number, it seemed like a fitting time to end the segment I’ve had on the chopping block for weeks now. In its place, I’ll use Sundays for site announcements or additional work on the weekly topics – if I have anything to add.

What other changes are coming? Here’s a small taste:

  • We’re migrating away from Feedburner to a new subscription management platform. Current subscribers will receive an email about this in the next few weeks.
  • With the new subscription service comes the ability to roll out a monthly newsletter for y’all. I can’t tell you everything that’s going in it, but you can expect:
    • A recap of the latest or most popular posts
    • Brand new positive living articles exclusively for subscribers of The Positive Piper – you won’t find these anywhere else
    • Links to useful content around the web – like my new column on Literary Lunes
    • Special “extras” to put you in a good mood and help you stay there.
  • The ebook is coming. Originally, I wanted to have it out to you in March, but then I scrapped the original idea and started over from scratch. What was supposed to be 20 pages is now looking closer to 100 pages. Did I mention it was free?

As you can see, y’all…I have oodles of awesomeness heading your way – whether you’re an aspiring writer or not. In the meantime, don’t forget to be considering whether you’re really happy. The follow-up to last week’s food for thought is coming your way tomorrow. :)
